Cowgirls Go On Their Own Sweet Time Zone

Raised in a country town slow and easy is the mood,
and believe you me she can take care of most any dude.
Keep on the good side of the fillies or they can take you down,
for she was raised to take care of herself in a small town .

Most of the time they live in their own time zone,
get up with the chickens and no special time to get back home.
Meeting with the neighbors and lending a hand ,
makes the small town folks foes and friends .

Oh you always have the screen scrapers with their jest,
get-tin in every on else business.
Could tell you what underwear old George has on today ,
but little do they know they are also being watched along the way.

Many of the folks are relatives in a small town indeed ,
for in a small town and your young those boys are the only ones you see.
So beware of who you talk about for son it could be bad,
for that old drunk or old slut out there could be someones mom or dad.

Oh and those church goers they seem to be the worst,
they cuss and swear and run around then let on like the perfect jerk .
Little do they realize there's no secrets here ,
and often one has to be put in there place at least once a year.

Now if your from up east or up north you will surely find ,
if you talk to fast all those town home folks will pass you on by .
For their minds are in slow mode  they need time to compute,
and often when asked a question for the answer you might just wait a few.

Oh laid back no rush and good vittles a wait-in at home ,
neighbors helping neighbors worth their weight in gold .
But for the new comers it takes time you see ,
for their direction to be slowed down a notch for this country breed.

The boys all have faded rings in their back pockets
its the place for their chew ,
And the ladies well don't make fun of the way they talk or their muse.
For the country folks if your in need oh they will be there,
to see you are OK and what ever they have they share .

Author notes

Sweet little thing but demands respect .Wont take no nonsese that you can bet why even myself once when treated without respect I had that poor boy flat of his back on the ground .Mama came in and she said whats going on and I told her how he was disrespectful and she told him for your own safety son you best be getin home.Learn some manners and respect or dont come back cause my girls can take care of themselves and thats a fact.

Ahh its very true. While I was born in the city and have spent most of my life in the city the majority of my extended family are "deep southern rednecks". I enjoy the simpler lives though and the laid back atmosphere you find once you get away from the cities. I have taught all my sisters how to throw a punch and defend themselves against someone bigger and stronger and they are quite good at it. As I have found out rather painfully. One of my proudest moments as an older brother was when this 17 y/o grabbed my 14 y/o sisters butt and she turned around and laid him out with 1 punch. But your poem has perfectly described much of the area here around where I live and you did it with a great rhyming poem. Good job Ms Patty.
