My fist was cut and bruised,
from punching his picture off the wall.
My heart was damaged and broken,
from the blow it took from your words.
My tears were strong and heavy,
from crying for hours over your expression.
BUT THEN.....
You came and held me down,
simply by putting your hand on my hand.
You put a smile on my face,
by joking about all the good times.
You brought a light in my eyes,
and all you had to do was be there.
AND SO......
When i am sad,
I turn to you.
When i am happy,
I thank you.
When i'm in need,
I look to you.
For i know you'll always be there.
Author notes
Well i choose to write about my Big Brother who has always been there for me. We lost our eldest brother a few years ago and it made us both realise how important family is and so we have never let each other forget how much we are grateful for having each other around.
The beginning of the story is about a time when i seperated from my boyfriend (my first love) and i was traumatised, i was crying for hours then walked into my room and saw a picture of him on my wall. I punched the picture and cut my knuckles on the glass.
My brother heard the smash and came running in, he took my hand and just sat with me while i cried my eyes out. Then he sat me down on the couch and listened for hours while i cried and talked, finally he started to talk about really really stupid things and i ended up cracking up laughing.

This is beautiful. I can say that the Author's notes helped me like the poem even more than I already did! That's wonderful to have such a caring older brother. I'm sure my brother would do this as well. He's awesome and very protective and I love him for it. Great job! Best of luck in my contest!
