My love for you will go unknown,
Until the end of time,
My heart before was made of stone,
It really is a crime.
So long as you are still anothers,
My love for you will go unknown,
Even though you are no longer lovers,
For her crimes i must atone.
My love for you must not be shown,
You've asked me just to wait,
My love for you will go unknown,
While i try to get my life straight.
From now till then i'll wait for you,
Placing you above on my throne,
Until the day we are no longer two,
My love for you must go unknown.
Author notes
This is a Villanelle (i think) which is basically just using the same line in the first line, then second, then third then the finishing line. I think it's a cool form as it rounds off the whole poem with one major theme.
The story behind this poem is simple, i am smitten with a bartender (who i have written a lot of poems about lately) and he has just seperated from his fiancee and so he has asked me to wait for him because he is still sore.
The line "For her crimes i must atone" is a reference to how i feel about having to wait because of what she has done in their past relationship.
Anyway i hope you like this poem, i would love one day to show him this maybe on our 1 year anniversary, if that ever happens : )
Blessed Be

I like your poem and understand how you feel, it's hard to have feelings for another person whom has been taken BUT at least he's not married you still have that chance. Thank you for entering the contest and good luck.
