Reflections

Staring at this enigmatic portrait

I see my reflection looking back at me

I stand here lost in my frustrations

my heart aches as I search intently

trying to find my place in this world

wondering if I belong here

whether or not I'll ever be accepted

no matter what I do in my life

no matter how hard I try

I can never seem to get

my feet off of the ground

sometimes I feel so cursed

like a rock, I try so hard to move

but always find myself stuck

it's so hard to breathe

my tears fall hard like rain

I feel my body starting to tremble

my knees grow weak all at once

heart beats uncontrollably

as I begin to collapse

I see myself falling so fast

as I whisper my good-byes to the world

then all of a sudden I feel a warmth

a hand quickly reaches down

breaking my fall and lifts me back up

I look back into the portrait

to find your beautiful smile

you tenderly embrace me

placing your hand upon my heart

you blow your breath into my face

giving me back my strength

and reason to live again

I cry tears of joy

as I feel my once aching heart

slowly start to beat again

I feel the blood start to circulate

within my arms and legs

looking back into the portrait

I see my reflection smiling at me

the fog lifts from within my eyes

I smile back knowing deep inside

that I am going to be alright

I really love your take on this prompt. wow, your words they hit me hard .. its like a journey in life that we travel, finding where we belong sometimes is the key.. even though we knew it from the start. the imagery that you've created with your words in this poem are vivid and the emotions are strong also..

    excellent job

    good luck

Killer poem! You really know what you're doing when you write...just as if the words of the Gods were breathed into your ears! You put it so perfectly that I cannot even believe this didn't fall from the Heavens to the Earth and float on a heavy wind to you the messenger...one that can connect better than any other and can articulate on the screen what others cannot even think of!Keep your verses coming...you are maybe the BEST poet we have!

Wonderful words of when we fight despair or any negative mood, and how He picks us up, breathing new life and strength...just love it all!
