...and there she lies
under the cover of alibis and dirty needles,
the hunger eating her up
as though she is the shelter's Thursday stew...
She is left in the alley Of Afterthought,
and trying to rise above it, she fails,
unheroic,
and wishes for the demise
of all those that wished her harm
She is just a girl,
simple & pure,
and those big aspirations
never rang quite true
until they came to collect
