We Are One

This guy I met a while back
Was just a friend to me.
Then we both seemed to crack
And our feelings were revealed.

We fell in love one day
And we couldn't leave each other.
None of our friends could lead us astray,
No matter how hard they tried.

They didn't approve of us being together,
But we just couldn't live without the other.
If people so disapproved,
Then maybe they should be removed.

"Just leave us alone!"
We shouted each day.
We turned and ran the other way,
Our hands were entwined every time.

He looked down at me
And smiled that wonderful smile.
"I'd have to make a decree
That you are the most beautiful girl around for miles."

I smiled back at him and said,
"Why thank you, sir,
I am no longer filled with dread.
You never said that would occur."

When he bends down to kiss me on the lips
He first whispers, "I love you,"
Then, holding my fingertips,
He kisses me, flying me farther than Peru.

My stomach flutters as he says he's going to confide.
He slowly presents to me a ring
And asks me to be his bride.
Now I know this isn't just some fling.

I tell him I love him and I always will,
There's something inside me
That's lost when he's gone that gives me a chill.
He says that he agrees.

When I am with him, my one true love
My heart soars into the heavens
And flies in circles like a dove.
We are joined hand in hand on 7/7/07.

Whenever I hold his hand
I get a thrill of joy.
I know that whatever our souls are made of may be quite bland.
But no matter what, we are the same, me and this boy.

I don't remember how it happened,
But I do remember this.
What's happened happened
And now I'm surrounded, drowning in bliss.
