Beaten

I can't believe I let him do that to me again.
To beat on me like a punching bag,
not giving a damn about what I feel
inside or out.
We're supposed to be here having fun,
a night out on the town.
We both deserved it.
I ordered the wrong drink
and now I've got the blood
to show for it.

He punched me in the face,
in front of God and everyone.
No one stopped him.
I feel so alone.

Why don't they step in,
when they hear yelling, screaming,
and see a man throw punches
on a woman?
It's like they're at peace with it.

I see myself hurting, bleeding,
screaming inside for freedom.
I'm a big girl, I can handle my own;
then why in the hell do I stay?
Because I love him.

Been there a time or two myself....
The 'excuse' is always.... "I Love Him"

Very true; for me after being abused for over 3 years I always maintained I never loved him, only God knows why I let it happen but for many many women it is that reason.

    Painfully penned, very well done!

Thank You & Best of Luck
    Stay safe

    So True,

I feel so many have been abuse in a relationship, that it becomes normal everyday life to them, and they justify it in the name of love, or they know of other couples who live like that together, thinking it's normal, but it's not, and I agree, sometimes, we have to help one another see the light, no matter what the addiction is, or trials we go through. Thanks for sharing, and know I love ya.

I can't say i really relate other than my mother was in quite a few of those relationships and i watched her get beat...and sometimes got beat myself when i got older, trying to step in to protect her. it infuriates me ...especially when the women use that excuse, even worst when they have children involved. ...great write...brought out emotion in me, obviously...lol. good luck in the contest
