Deceit

What do you want?
For me to fill your ears with lies
That you and I know
You do not believe?
You still kiss me softly
Forgiving every lapse
Your fingers drumming gently on my skin
A rhythm of love and pain and misery
And which is which? Neither of us know
A careful world of carefully built les
Filling ears with deceit, with fear, with hate
How do you and I live like this
Every day of the year?
You still kiss me softly
You taste of pain
You tell me I taste of love
Yet in your eyes, I see the taste of misery
Oh what have we two come to
A future once so bright
A love once filled with joy
A pain once never there
I fill your ears with lies
You fill mine with deceit
And we circle ever round
Pain and misery surrounding us
Still our single truth remains
You kiss me gently with pain
I kiss you with misery
But leave love in our wake
