extended,
to the preservation of culture
that adds in defining
one's self.
Grant me this,
a monetary sum,
so I may perpetuate
my culture,
myself.
One-fifth of the sum
dedicated to research on language,
my tongue.
another fifth engenders
nullification amidst the genders
bringing pro-feminine,
matrilineal ideals
front
and
center.
Another portion
prevents distortion
between those who can
and those who cannot
afford an education
let these prodigal children
return to their roots
and spread new
beginnings.
Yet another goes to the written
word
where titanic ideas
gain immortality in
bindings of trees;
a fecundity
begetting
boundless innovations.
The last
would be to start anew
a ripple that grows as it
moves
along the lives of those
who begun the race
and leave others
to have it
won.
Author notes
I would have the money go to establishing grant systems. $100,000 to research and development of my dying language, $100,000 for woman and gender studies in relation to my culture (Guam/Chamorro) another hundred grand for scholarships for students who desire to implement and use the language in order to perpetuate it, another hundred grand for the development of literature in my language (hey, lets get poets and novelists on board with this translation/ creative writing project) and the last of the money will go to establishing a continuous non-profit organization that aims at perpetuating cultural identity and awareness, looking into other sources of revenue and charity to keep this program running!
Thanks for the solid prompt.
