Comes a Light in Liberty
Shining unto All
Author notes
1: I am Australian but so relieved America has elected its first Black, and 44th, President. So would be Jefferson, or I am not wrong.
2: An alternate version has it:
Into the Darkness
Comes: a Light of Liberty
Shining out for all.
This serves to emphasize the logic of the Haiku lines more, I feel, as well as increasing the sophistication of the implications of interpretations of particularisations of possibilty.

I too, believe that America needs this so badly. It's way past time that this country looked beyond race and started pulling together as one nation under God. I enjoyed reading this, good luck in the contest.

Untermenschen von Uberhimmel Getraenken
Regardless of one's Religious out look, the vast power America wields and the influence it determines to give out one can but agree is needful of more than Eighteenth Century morality and political philosophy.
That the nutritional intake of the Grandmother influences the brain development of her Grandchildren - ill-fed women produce less intelligent off-spring for two generations, all other things being equal - says a lot for long term planning when it comes to developing an equitable society.
Many in the world we as a species have conquered, while yet remaining divided, can only agree with your sentiment as an American.
Good Luck to us all in the future contest that is Humanity vs Maturity.

Yes! What more can be said?
I feel that Obama will truly change things for the better! I'm also saying this from an outsider perspective, as I am German. I'm not intending to generalize but I'm sure many Germans (as well as people in countries all over the world) agree with you here!
Thank you so much for sharing!

A Time for Change has Really Come
One way or the other, change was inevitable.
That intransigent forces remain, and problems be nearly ubiquitous, right across the whole field of Governmental responsibility, colours the possibilities in a way that we of good heart can only hope shall lead to a flowing of the blood of life to more than the bread of the financial district and the wine of the poor.
I also believe Obama wills change for the better. That Democracy is flawed in so far as those who govern for the Few weigh equally heavily in the Balance with those who govern for the greater good, for the Many, which includes those who govern for the Few, makes the project of Post-Atomic Liberty a convoluted one, which we can only see through to the end. As Winston Churchill said, "Democracy is the worst form of government ever invented, except for all the others."

YES, it's so nice to see an outside perspective on our political situation!

Wir Sind Alles Americanische.
When JFK said, "We are all Berliners", he did not realise that "ein Berliner" was a jelly donut, where "ein Berlinen" would have been the correct grammatical form he sought. The Germans applauded nonetheless his declaration, "We are all jelly donuts!"
The situation is complex and on-going, and wonderful to finally get to sink our teeth into, sweet as.
Thank you for the provocation to write. It has already lead to my writing a much longer and more cynically twisted piece born of this most important of area of contemplation, at least for such as I who would see the world become better for all concerned.

Ummlout Bin Icch
I learnt a little when I were a teen.
Language should never come between
Truth and its owned perception,
Wir sind gemutlich Sie so sein.
(I forget the word for "joy" at this time).
