When you called me today,
I heard it in your voice.
There was something
weighting on your mind.
Asked me to sit down,
and the tears came too fast.
For deep down I knew
your promises too good to last.
I listen to your lies,
my heart cries as words
of self hate pour from your mouth.
The abuse of drugs,
the nights spent drinking.
The money wasted,
and the daughter we created
forgot in the blur.
The love you claim
forgotten in an empty bottle.
The pain you place
in my soul when you lay
in bed with her again.
I wanted to help,
and I did too much it seems.
Let me go, tell me to run,
stop hurting us.
It never ends this pain you give.
I heard it in your voice,
when you called me today.

Release yourself, run.
I have a very good friend who is experiencing the same thing. I tell her ignore him, his calls, his texts and e-mails. He no longer exists. She is getting better.
