sequences

her aching joints
do not signify
how many times
she has come together,
and yet remains
so incomplete;

chipped at and moulded;
a model mother, wife,
friend and
now
  your lover

she lays,
stuttered...

and lies,
incessantly,
chattering
about everything,
just to spend
a moment,
clenched
and incomplete:

a work in progress...

  • Ah, I feel like this time and time again. So many times I think it has come together, and I am who I am finally, or again, I don't know, and then I realize I am starting again. At my dawn over and over again. In fact, my most recent poem was about this, yet again claiming to be the finished project.

    Very well done Elaine, I can't wait to read more.

    I stopped by your page to see if I had missed anything new posted by you, and I was right! November though?! What a delayed reaction lol

    This is wonderful - makes me think that, perhaps, we are always incomplete and looking in all the wrong places for fulfilment

    Hey - I know this feeling.
    Though, sometimes just an inkling of incomplete can outweigh the completeness offered from incomplete ideas.

    Miss Elaine! It's so good to see you back here where we can watch the materpiece in motion! Lovely poem that celebrates that fluidity of a woman's life as it is lived and created!
