Our children after us we may not think for
Women will scream as they watch their babies no matter their age, being murdered
A draft will come again, women, and men
But sit down, let it be, watch and wait, can’t you see?
The groups of people on the street are marching for world peace
And the children are learning what is right and what is wrong
Women will win their right to fight haven’t they wanted that for so long
But sit down, let it be, watch and wait, can’t you see?
The next decade from us will be lost when the world regains the holocaust
The infant’s cry’s will be drowned out by our governments own lies
War shall fall amongst our very own front yards
But sit down, let it be, watch and wait, can’t you see?
The world is drowning in its own made debts
But let it be, trust me, we’ll only end up on the streets
The children are certainly being left behind
But let it be, trust me, they’ll only fail in the future
The air is turning toxic, the pollution is overwhelming
But let it be, trust me, we’ll only not be able to breathe
So turn off your porch light
Hide behind your curtains
Wait until the TV newscaster whispers America’s last heard words
“We have dug our own grave”
Let it be.

oh and the truth rings out of this one ... liberty to be free brings just as many problems ... everybody has somebody to answer to ... thank you so much for your time and talent and the song choice is GREAT!!!

ooh
let it be is my all time favorite song. Its always there to fall back on, like a cozy sofa or soft bed. this poem is beautiful, you have used the title so well here. I feel so overwhelmed, these are things I often think of and wish for better. This poem connects with me and is so much like much of my own earlier poetry that I can't helopbut she a little tear and a little laugh. I feel strongly about matters such as these too, and read a great deal into this wonderful peom. Great write, sure to be a fine addition to the contest.
