Before Sleep

Before sleep try not to weep,
for all the laws I failed to keep;
fighting with my mind each day,
I rest my head, and then I pray!

Contemplate the day just spent,
all I did, the things I said;
how I failed to measure up,
the food I ate, with Whom I sup.

I have a nightly ritual,
read my Bible; meditate on what I know
If I should die in my sleep,
trusting Him to my soul keep!

I pray I’ll have another day,
to foster on and pave my way;
eternity’s a breath away,
life’s a vapor I hope will stay!

    i can see from this poem that you are truly a devoted Christian.

    As a Christian myself, i do believe that praying before you sleep is a good practice.

    I thought you poetically expressed yourself well, the rhyme was pretty good.

    Though it was a very soothing read, this didn't stick out from the rest.

    thanks for this poem and best of luck

      When I saw your Contest it inspired me with this write. I didn't expect it to be a real knock out poem, just something to share with others about my life to praise Him! Thanks for the Contest and the prompt!
