He pictured her in golden curls
blooming cheeks of rosy red
diamond view of a little girl
could not see the deep pain hidden in her eyes;
She colored her lips black cherry
painted on a smile
covered up dark secrets
of who she had become
sold pieces of herself for a needle and a spoon;
Love blinded two souls
encased in chilling denial
where dark shadows fell upon
a gentle spirit no longer able to fly
~headstone reads "beloved daughter of",
he sits alone now still picturing
a little girl in soft golden curls and rosy cheeks of red.

Wow, this brings such staggering images to mind. Creating a reality one can sense and feel the total sorrow that exudes from these people. Wonderfully written and many thanks for entering into the contest.
Be well and be blessed,

And if only he'd have seen her as what she was, perhaps the tragedy would never have happened.. that's denial for you isn't it!
Bravo on such a brilliant write sis!

Now this has a touch of Sam to it, I love to see the societal voice sounding loud and clear my kindred. This was one of the most outstanding things I have read from you, just brilliant.!! Best to you in the contest

the last two lines are so sad
he knows but still would not acknowledge or probably won't taint her memory with what really happened.

Wow...
This brought tears to my eyes, for this is a terrible and tragic reality for so many...you captured the essence of someone's reality with chilling clarity and emotion. Fantastic write! ~
