A Mermaid's Cry

Here alone I wonder if anyone can see
Hiding in the darkness surrounding me.
Admiring the sunset
A massive ball of light
The largest in the solar system
Soon it will be night.

As the massive light keeps burning
The earth keeps on turning
I wonder if this earth will ever die
The days and nights tick by
Day by day I watch my years fly away
I look up to God and pray
That I will one day be released.
That this curse can be reversed.

For now I am a fish in a massive ocean
Tricked by a wicked witch
Who made me drink this potion.

Now loneliness rips at my soul
For once in my life I want to feel whole.
To escape this curse I am under
Nobody can see the tear stains on my heart
Sometimes I look up to the sun
But, it often feels dark.

As the soft glow of nature
Surrounds my every being
I remember the days when I could walk upon the land
Those days with my lover when we would run upon the sand.
Times when our love would burn like the sun
Those days of freedom, those days of fun.
Now as I sit here reflecting on days gone by
A tear falls as I start to cry.

I have lost all sense of reality
I am fighting to be free
It is a sad life being a mermaid
Trapped within the sea.

Such beauty surrounds me
As I realise my fate
Trapped inside this prison gate.
I wish I wasn't a mermaid
I want to swim free
Yet I am just like a small fish
Trapped in a massive sea.

Colours cascading like a waterfall,
Inside I feel the darkness
As I listen to Satan's call.
As the sun falls into the ocean
It mirrors my soul
Floating into the darkness
Where night blackens my fall
Afraid I'll be here forever condemned to loneliness
I don't want to be just a mermaid
I have a bigger purpose
I only ever wanted to be free
