from this center to yours
all the molten gold I can offer
pouring out an overflow of turbulent
unfamiliar sensation
unknown unknowable unfathomable
incomprehension, anxiety produce
curare of the heart
hopeful cries
a lunar serenade
passion throwing dew from the trees
but if the moon stays in the sky
the red one would run with the yellow
forever and never
to the limits of connection
frenzied notions pulse within
blurred impressions, scent and heat
crack and shatter as broken glass
biting inside the skull
bitter comprehension drains
soft magic into pain
lost against the punishing torrent
a thorn of regret throbs in reminder
but the warning fails to register
in the deepest center of the real
non-reciprocation blues.

Author notes
Emotionally, this reaches back to before I was able to value myself and see the situation realistically enough to approach who I loved with how I felt. Thankfully I'm much healthier now, and he and I have been together for months now, but the memories remain.
