The bougainvillea woke me this morning
as June wandered hastily into my garden;
I felt her breath
upon my open window
finding its way to my skin
until I became
the trellis vine
coloured every shade of blithe
with sunkissed fingers
tracing
the wisteria brook
silken and soft
like the ribbons in my hair
