Dove in captivity in a cage it stays
Out the window it looks at the sunlights rays
Wishing to be free from servitude
Unpenning is long overdue
Wanting to feel the wind through its wings
To see what nature can bring
Taking in a breath of fresh air
Not thinking of entrapments despair
Living in wilderness peace
Waiting for its sweet
Release

I am more of a free verse writer and reader but the rhyme of this poem is great and you used great imagery to paint a better picture you used to write this poem. Keep writing

Captivating
We once had a homing pigeon for a couple months that was on our roof and it let my oldest son pick him up and I told him one day it may want to fly back from where it came...but still I feel release for ourselves in this piece...nice
