In the presence of this futile thing,
I cannot explain
My actions,
Like a bear to honey,
No,
More like flies to flypaper-
Tricked by the appearance of ‘completeness’
Only to be stuck in something flat.
I can explain,
When your lips touch mine
Waves of electricity
Make my heart beat faster.
I crave your scent
Like an animal on the prowl.
Vicious and hungry,
I’m drawn to you
Like a shark to blood,
Crazed with desire and absent of thought.
I can explain,
We’re like oil and water,
Doomed from the start
To eventually separate.
I will not light that fuse,
But I cannot explain
Why I’m still holding tight
To the box of matches.
Please tell me what you think

I liked the last part when you said "I'm still holding tight to the box of matches"

Why I’m still holding tight
To the box of matches.
so wait and find out is the most beautiful end to this i think i've ever heard, and so get deeper at that increased heart rate, deeper than you've ever been before,
and thus you will be shown the door...

I love the intensity that came through your words and the final three lines made me catch my breath...I know exactly what you mean.
A wonderful expression of desire and the emotions it creates.
