Good-bye’s are Forever

“Good-bye” has lost all meaning
Today, good-bye is a dramatic pause
It’s unclear and less definitive than it should be

My Great Grandmother never said Good-bye
Or so everyone says.
"Take care", "I'll see you later", she used instead

One night (as the story goes)
I was told my Great Aunt Jeanne was visiting
My Great Grandmother, Bobbee Ruthie

And as she left turning toward the screen
Bobbee looked at her, sighed and said…
“Good-bye… Jeanne”.

Not realizing in that moment
Those words had never pursed her lips
If there ever was a good-bye… that was it

She died that night
In a chair… in her room
My Great Grandmother knew

Good-bye is forever
A means to an end
And she knew…

                    Exactly when
                              It should be said.

Author notes

"Bobbee" or more commonly spelled "Bubbie" is a Jewish term for Grandmother.

She always said: Good-bye's were forever, so use them sparingly. She would never use the word, and I had never heard her say it. She died when I was 13.

    This poem was so sad.
I know the feeling of losing someone close to your heart.
And in my family before we leave we always tell each other bye and we love 'em because we never know what could happen that way we'll always know that was the last thing we said to 'em.
    Anyway the poem was great.
Thanks for entering and good luck.

Thank you. My point here is that you should 'never' say good-bye unless you know 100% it's the last time you'll ever see someone.

      Huh?

Ummm... I know. I directly quoted you properly, and I quote "'no body' that is weird. That poem had a few bodies."

And then I finished with sarcasm, but you have me confused; in my message to you, where did I say: nobody?
