I'm thankful for the air I breathe
those sunny days in spring
Whippoorwills and Crickets
and a mother when she sings.
A newborn baby's cry
and eagles on the wing
the happiness and joy
that loving someone brings.
The right to choose my destiny
to exercise free will
and stroll among the flowers
on the far side of a hill...
and waking up inspired
on another welcome day
in the majesty of sunrise
knowing everything's okay.

Excellent...very melancholy but romantic style. A very enjoyable read that took me on a journey of images and thoughts. Well done for the honorable mention it is great you got that.Every line demonstrated a true knowledge of thankfulness reminds us that we need to be thankful of even the smallest every day miracles that sometimes we neglect. This poem left me with a sense of warmth and closeness it also made me realise that we do need to be thankful for the world around us.

Congrats on the hm! Your poem reminds me that life is not too bad after all. We do have a lot to be thankful for. The line that struck me most was "the right to choose my destiny"

Those are wonderful things to thankful for.
I thank you for entering my contest.
