Successful Man

This man
He had cash in his pockets,
Abundant credit, and wallets
Of his little girl.
He had a mistress on the side,
Dinner in the oven, and a high rank;
BA, MA, Doctorate on the resume,
And confidence upon his belt.
With Starbucks in his right hand,
Briefcase in the other-
And a tie labeled “success,”
This man said,
“Take these from my pockets;
Take these from my hands.”
The scoffers in the crowd
Didn’t cross his mind.
