Needing Friends

Friends come and some friends go,
some say they’re friends,
this they never show.
Wish this wasn’t so,
my Best Friend told me,
this is what to expect!

He told me: “if they do this to Me,
what do you think they’ll do to you?”
It took me years to see this is true.
I’ve grown to know and love Him, walk as He did,
I’ve taken on His life and in Him I’ve hid.

Life in Him isn’t hiding,
it’s being true in purpose, inside and out;
it means forsaking self, leaving no doubt,
you’re a disciple, in Him abiding.

We all need friends as companions,
to share our doubts and fears;
if you don’t know how to love,
you’re wasting many years.

We’re here to learn Who love is,
display His life in us;
without knowledge of our Savior,
friendships turn to dust!

Friends come and some friends go,
some say they’re friends,
this they never show.
Wish this wasn’t so,
my Best Friend told me,
this is what to expect!

Author notes

Joh 15: 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me.
7 If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
12 This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you.

He is my Best Friend & is willing to be yours also!

    I like this. You must know I am a Christian. It is true that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. He is the only friend who is truly dependable. Human love fails.

    This is a strong rebuke to fair weather friends, and it illuminates the One true friend we can always count on! Thoughtful and thought provoking poem, something to chew on and digest slowly. Thanks for the food for thought.
