My sweetest friend
Where did it all end up
The wells of joy dried up
For misery poured like waterfalls
Dark rings under our eyes
As we learn the true nature of our intentions
And feel the world rise beneath our feet
I stand on one side and look through
The darkness our new leader
As the day draws to a close
Ruler with our crowns of broken thoughts
Shattered hearts mended
With the help of metal wire
Crawling for interpretation
As our minds begin to fail
For I am the queen and your are the king
You called me an angel and thus gave me wings
Yet your hallucinations became real
As the needles tear your skin
Whilst I stand beside you
Waiting for the new dawn to come
For you've become the beast
And you've turned me into an angel
As my body rots among the wood
Whilst my spirit looks in at you
The tears you shed so real
Yet you don't see these wings of mine
Or hear me call your name
Instead you close this door once again
Locking me out from your mangled heart
And leaving me to eternity with mine
Author notes
When the thoughts and hearts of friends disintegrate whilst their minds slowly twist
As you can see, the door is the 'king' shutting out his friend, his 'queen' and the effects of this situation
