Simon says

Halloween class party with my five year old son
To show off their costumes and to have some fun
I worked the overnight,  I'm half asleep
Chaos ensuing, impatience starts to creep
Irritable and exhausted I sway on my feet
While the kids walk around and say trick or treat

Finally it's time for the snacks and the food
I'm feeling quite fed up, I'm trying not to be rude
I say to myself it's about time I should go
Before I lose it and put on a show
The room is getting quiet, the children are chewing
Who knows what kind of mischief their little minds are brewing

When all of a sudden my son shoots out of his seat
Looks at everyone staring and without missing a beat
Hey yells MOM super loud and then he throws
His arms out to the sides and his little face glows
In front of his class and all their parents gazes
He says one more thing that really amazes

"Give me a hug MOM.  I'm glad that you're here"
"I love you MOM"  I shed a tear
Parents oohed and aahed, and whispered "How sweet"
I hugged my son tight and my life was complete

children have that healing power.just when i figured he wouldn't do stuff like that in front of his friends...I was wrong.....happily I might add

    Beautiful expressions, for no love compares the heartfelt love of a child. treasure it, for they soon grow up and its all gone.
