We strolled so casually along,
nudged fallen russet with our toes,
had not a care in all the world
with fingers entwined-
whistling merrily.
Passing artists ply their trade,
we stopped to drink a lemonade
beside the swirling river’s side-
just whistling merrily.
To a delighted minstrel’s laugh
we danced a two step ‘long the path,
winning claps for our silliness
bowing gracefully-
we blew a kiss.
Held so snug within your arms
while we sat upon the stairs-
gentle lap of water along the edge,
whispered words strummed
heart's every beat.
An afternoon we shared in love
beneath the rays of autumn’s sun,
while strolling along the river Seine
our fingers entwined-
whistling merrily!
