Just a dream

Woke up this morning
or so I had thought.
Maybe it was all just
a dream.

Heard your voice whispering
so softly my name,
but then it vanished into the
early morning light.

Felt your touch on my skin,
so soft and delicate.
I reached out to hold you;
but nowhere were you to be.

Woke up this morning
or so I had thought.
Then I realized it was all
just a dream.

What did you think

    What some may not realize is that this is not a poem cliched, it is a eulogy in itself to a mother who lost her child, I worked with this family who recently lost their brother in a deadly car crash, this is the poem for the mother, dedications are not an easy feat, this is what she herself said: " His dying was like I was dreaming, nowadays I do not even know when I am awake or asleep, for I liken to live in a fantasy where he is still alive and well."

    just cliched to the point of embaressment? why are you featuring a poem which has been articulated by millions of authors in the exact same way before you? attempt to do something diffrent, think outside the box instead of " it was just a dream" explore the dream, take the trip, whats happening, be vivid, be as fake and ridiculous as you want or keep it like this, because this is the sort of writing that is really appreciated on here.
