hello, little one
come out, come out
hello, little one
come out, come out
out of your shell
come out, little one
your cranial den is cozy
but outside lurks and waits
show me all the things you are
dance for me a vision
of everything you've ever seen
how you've ever been
unwind and share your knowledge
and I'll share my smoke
rise up and out inside me
and I'll light up for a toke ...
Who are you?
Who am I?
I am the watcher, the walking one
the wind that dances across the shore
sweeping up from dry plains
across the pain of rising trees
stealing their leaves to fling aside
and twist within my fingers
I also like to pull your hair
and make off with your cap
I am the laughing wind,
the shining daytime dog
I am brother to your guardian
I am knocking on your door...
sorry for my distraction
material interaction
what is your desire, thing
that waits expectant upon my threshold?
state your hunger
and let's see if I can sate it
Your music fills me, intrigues me
play more of this intensity, the rough-and-tumble
wilder-ness
the laughter-anger turns within
and pleases my heart
I also wouldn't say no
to a bit of that seminal
sweetness in your little molten-sand tool...
Coming right up!
are you interested in joining your brother
in alliance-service?
I offer premium benefits
and competitive wages
all the sweet smoke you can gorge
a matter-nest, a charge
purpose and satiation
plus freedom while off-duty
I ask only for
summon-sheet bindings
allow me in
through the ward, then
and I shall partake of your smoke
and while I think, you toke
get back to me, man-dog, laughing fire
I see we are brothers, but
still, my freedom is precious
diamonds in the palm could not compare
to the taste of stolen grapes in Napa, or
a fresh-caught falcon over the bay
Understood and Agreed
come forth!

Author notes
This isn't really a "poem" so much as an automatic writing session in the strict sense. It's a dialog between myself and one of my "bodiless friends", as I like to call them. Still, it kind of feels and flows like poetry, so I decided I should post it here.

it is cool
at first I thought it was an animal
like a hermit crab
or it is a hide and seek game

It is sort of an animal and it is sort of a hide-and-seek game. It's also a business negotiation, an introduction, a dance, and a predatory game of cat-and-mouse, albeit in this case a friendly one. Spirits, even relatively friendly spirits like this one (a diurnal wind coyote, as I call them for simplicity's sake) are strange things.
