Farcical Superstitions (Harrisham Sonnet)

Superstitions permeate doubts in our minds;
Succinctly portend gloomy doom.
Yin-Yang philosophy yields and unwinds,
Negativity erupts; erroneous notions abloom.
Yesteryears’ folklores made-up by Mankind;
Sprout out from their communal tomb.

We get so scared of confronting undue ill fate
Even sage empowers to believe in caprice or chance
Nevertheless, the fear creates upheaval in our mental state
So we become slaves to our ignorance and let go trance
Obtruding the laws of karma that we choose to negate
Goody-goody life goes on, thence safely we advance.

Nanak condemned such irrational beliefs; and I bow
Karma defines, “you shall reap what you sow.”

    loads of talent here

    and Guru Nanak Dev Ji is truly wise when he condemns all irrational beliefs- superstitions-blind notions -all are misleading and an utter indulgence in a sheer waste of time and fruitfull energy-yes , life is all about karma-one of the very 3 basic doctrines of your faith -karma- sharing-and praying -we all are answerable to our doings -our karmas- we reap what we sow-An extremely well written poem

    Wow! This is an amazing sonnet!
    It is quite clear that it is well-compiled and well-worded.
    The way you have expressed your thoughts is very interesting.
    Certainly, most of the superstitions hinder people's thoughts and don't let them live freely.
    Belief in Karma does make one endeavor to do the good.

    The mention of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is very sweet.

    This is an enjoyable write.
    A beautiful piece of poetry.

    Thanks for your entry.

    Very clever! I had not heard of this type of Sonnet before, but I think you did an excellent job with it! How hard that must have been!

    This is a different poem, with a different form and a different theme. I havent read about this form before. About your poem, it is excellent and deserves a trophy for sure. Superstitions in my point of view enslave a persons mind. But to some limit, they are important too
