Can an incomplete sculpture be beautiful?
Some would say yes.
Look at the sculpture of Venus de Milo.
Some might say no.
Because the heart is captured
But the added beauty of a smile is lacking.
What beauty would you see...
If you were the sculptor?
Beauty to everyone is defined differently.
As some say
The eyes are windows to the soul
Where others believe it is one's heart.
The beauty I see is in the lines...
How the sculptor makes his form come alive.
The smooth unfinished curves
Still alluring one's eye...
Wondering... if this were meant to be
So you or I could add the completed face.
What the artist sees.
We may not.
But we should enjoy their talents
For they are gifts of beauty
Bestowed by our Maker
And we return his gift by the sculptures we carve.
