Starting Over

You didn't want to hurt me,

so lies poured from your mouth.

An attempt at keeping me happy,

filled my heart with doubt.

Secrets came between us,

disappointment swelled with pain.

No longer could we prosper,

your love was only feign.

Broken by deception,

I walked away from you.

Though anguish overwhelmed me,

I found life anew.

Yes you paint the most deep, sad and emotional write and I can relate to this. Men and women can be very hurtful and you have to kiss a lot of bad ones before you find the right one. Unfortunately because we are human we hurt people, but one day all we will know is joy and happiness. A fantastic write.

You've had plenty experience in the heartache department to assimilate real emotion with your words-even though you don't wallow in those emotions, they provide great sources of inspiration.
    Congratulations on your trophy~

Wonderfully penned! It is such a difficult time when a relationship ends. There is much grieving before one can move on. I am glad youn have been able to move on, although some scars I am sure will remain.
A very heartfelt write indeed. I felt your loss and pain.
    All the best with this

Very nicely done and I love the rhyme scheme... it flowed like music with your words. Well done and best of luck.

    Sam,

This rings so true. Lies told to gaurd someone from pain (genuine or not genuine). You know what is worse than a lie that is sugar coated? A lie told in silence.

You write from a place that is beautiful and knowing.

Good luck in the contest : )
