A Wintry Night

  I watch the snow fall,
In a perfect, diagonal line.
I can barely see at all,
But under the bright street lights, I see fine.

The grass begins to disappear,
Under a cold, white, frozen cover.
The wind whistles in my ear,
Like a tune sung by a mother.

As the magnificent patterned snowflakes
Fall ever so gently on the ground,
It's almost as if no one's awake,
Because there is not a peep nor a sound.

The sky is painted a dark, dark blue,
With Shining stars scattered randomly.
I don't know what else to do,
Because this winter wonderland just amazes me.

My fireplace burns with angry rage,
As if it has seen this sight.
It just seems to show that any age
Can enjoy a beautiful wintry night.

So what do you think?

I can just see your version of winter here, I have lived through a few of them. I think the poem is well-worked, I didn't know if you meant 'song' or 'sung' but it works either way.

    Welcome to Allpoetry

    Hello Brittany,

I like the way you decribe the winter snow and that the fireplace seems to know the snow is falling and burns hotter. Very clever.

"The wind whistles in me ear" I think me should be my?

You did a great job on this poem. I enjoyed it very much. It made me think of "walking in a winter wonderland" (my favorite christmas song).
