As another year passes,

worm-like creases
slowly furrow their way
along a once smooth surface,

tracing deep craggy seams,


gradually forming two or more
narrow grainy-veined tracks,



leading off in opposite directions.

    I think this describes laughter lines to a tee. Well written here. Best to you in the contest
