I close my eyes, the colors come rushing; reds, blues, greens, too many to name
them all.
Stars, flowers, shapes and swirls, then so many faces of all those I've lost or haven't
thought of in a while.
There is but one face that stands out from the rest, much clearer, more vivid.
His eyes make the stars take a back seat when compared to the twinkling from
their blueness looking back at me.
His hair a cool, chocolate brown, still perfectly combed just as it was on that
night.
He brings his hand from behind him, outstretched, holding a single red rose,
and holds it up for me.
My ears can still hear the music, it's our song, he takes my hand, pulling me
close to his chest.
My nose recognizes the intoxicating muskiness of his cologne, my arms close
in around him, much of their own free will.
His lips have found mine and soon become locked in such hot, fevered kisses, I
felt surely we would melt.
The reds are becoming so much deeper now, intensifying heat, fireworks
explode behind eyelids tightly pressed shut.
I don't want to open my eyes, don't want to wake up, knowing when I do I will
be forced to accept that his face, the rose, our song, the scent of his cologne,
how his arms felt around me as we danced, kisses that stole my breath and
the fireworks going off in my head nothing but fantasies...

(I'm smiling...) Okay, this was really good. I was going through the contest you entered this piece in and came here and stopped. The reading was easy; the colors were vibrant and the scenes conjured great imagery to me. Congrats on the trophy.

very nice
I wish for somewhat the same thing only the rose had a thorn and now I'm bleading the deap red you were talking about. This is a great dream and write. It held my attention the whole way through. I wonder where the girl I dreamed of was, but am glad I got one that surpasses the dream! Love ya Sis, Bubba
