Humble Pledge

I bow my knee and celebrate
Allegiance to Thee and I await
Thy soothing touch to burn my soul
Thy enchanted voice which I extol

Command my heart, it shall take heed
Unto Thy Word Thou hath decreed
From this Earth it should not fade
And faileth not those who obeyed

A humble servant I pledge my breath
I give Thee love unto my death
If bids me now, pray strength to me
To uphold this cause so Heavenly

If blood should run like once before
Steel my heart for cosmic war
I take my cross and follow Thee
All counted loss, for Calvary

  • Awesome. I did see a typo in the third line of the third stanza, but other than that, flawless.

I truly admire this piece. You have done very well in writing it. I wish you the best of luck in my contest and congratulate you on making into the preliminary finalists.

My only suggestion with this piece would be to change "And faileth not to those obeyed" to "And faileth not those who obeyed". The way that you worded it gives the impression that the Word obeys people.

I really liked the line, "Thy enchanted voice which I extol."

    Thank you for your entry.

Such dedication to your Savior expressed here as your highest goal to please Him who is your strength, Jesus Christ, I think of the scripture that apostle Paul said "He counted all things but loss but for the cross of Jesus Christ...As Timothy you show us that at your young age you have a work, a ministry to accomplish in poetry and writing that affects those of your generation and others...Love your friend, Rosemary

I still know very little as to the course laid out before me, other than that I walk by faith and not by sight. And my desire is to be counted faithful and true.

Thank you for your words of encouragement.

    Amen.

Such power in your words. such conviction. I LOVED it! Great flow and rhyme, the meter was perfect. 1tim 4:12.," do not let anyone look down on your because you are young, but set an example in faith, love, and in purity"

made me think of that verse for some reason. idk why, but it did. Blessings be to your my dear brother. This is beautiful

As always, you are most appreciated. I haven't done much work with prompts and so I hope I do well with this one.
