as i close my eyes
utopia which i never see
appears. it never has
when ive closed my eyes so many times before.
maybe i never noticed the sweet zephyr
of air. or the tingling
touch of the limp grass.
so many times in one minute
i could be there.
i never stay long enough.
trees with knobby branches
and roots that form the rays of sun.
stones
covered with the green carpet
softer though
than any man could ever make.
hear the churning of the river
that runs beneath the ground
and appears to me
above
where ripples becomes the ripples
that pollute my wandering mind.
