She lies gasping at life
on sweltering asphalt
where tires churn so much
they barely touch the surface
offspring crawling concussed; disorientated
from safety of mother’s pouch
licking at damaged fur in hope of a miracle
before headlights illuminate
an orphan’s lonely path to safety

I have read through this a couple times and I am bloody stunned this has no comments on it!
The metaphors in the write reach deep with the obvious and show the emotions an orphan must feel in life
Fantastic write!
