your Day so heav'nly pulls
upon the hearts of lonely men
and firm on lovestruck fools.
Dear Valentine, good friend of mine,
the world forgot your name,
replacing it with trove and jewels
that all look quite the same.
Each year so many broken hearts
are dashed aside by thee--
or by the voice of jewelry-stores'
"She'll love it!"'s on TV?
Endure forever, Valentine,
a world as this does need
another festival of lust,
and holiday of greed.

Author notes
Okay, no, I do not hate Valentine's Day. Let me make this well established. I do not hate Valentine's Day. There is nothing wrong with Valentine's Day. This poem is about how we have taken a holiday that was originally for the celebration of love and turned it into just another consumerist dump heap of cheap jewels and gaudy attire, just another pointless day for meaningless romp and revelry. Wow, I need to get a life.

It's so true though
Valentine's Day is such a Hallmark holiday XD You should surprise a girl with flowers on a random day, it'll make it more magical
Hehe, I loved this one
