Marouelle

Sweet Marouelle, do tell me where you are,
it matters not to me how far,
so long as I should find you there,
as tumbles in the wind your hair.

With you not in my arms I know not how I'll last--
I care not what your sordid past--
but let me hold you close once more,
before you too walk out that door.

My Marouell, don't toy with me this way;
around your finer am I every day--
but never, pray, release me from your hold:
'tis worth far more to me than gold.

Meat me 'neath the trees of Forest Dell,
my sweetest, ever-lovely Marouelle,
and when they come for us my love,
our souls will soar then high above,

for they shall never take me from you, dear--
fret not, for there's no need for fear.
What hopes could they now entertain
of finding us that are not now in vain?

-D.B.

Author notes

No, my friends, this is certainly not personal-- I'm not about to commit double suicide with anyone. Marouelle, as well, is neither a real person nor based on any real person. She is merely an artistic construct developed, name and all, by my innter Romantic. I have been asked by several if the name Marouelle comes from French. No, it comes from Daniel-- that is to say, I totally invented the name Marouelle. Yes, for those few who have read it, Marouelle is also the name of the girl in my poem "Phinnĉus and Marouelle". I use the name extremely often in my poetry, simply because I find the name to be pretty, and she essentially represents any sort of feminine character in your standard Romantic story or poem, at least to me.

Thank you for reading it!

Please tell me what you think

Awww, I remember these Marouelle poems I liked them a lot, and I liked how in this one you show how much this man would do for her. Just one thing, you spelled Marouelle wrong in the third paragrah XD Just thought I should point that out
