A tale of a Hallow's Eve

In a house all blue in clouds of the same hue,
lived a ghoul, a ghost, and a gaping door,
all residing on a lone hill where lived an old McGrew.
And at the hill, a killing of a woman that he did once adore.

The ghoul, grasping, and groaning around that house,
was said to have killed more than just one mouse.
And also that the ghoul had been old McGrew's spouse,
who had been killed after the house's douse.

The ghost, a pale, jagged, and thin man of a host.
Some believe that he was old McGrew, giving a toast
to his ghoul of a wife that gruesomely groaned most.
And those that have been to the house do not boast.

They disappear once walking up the lone hill,
they fall and fail at their folly almost like Jack and Jill.
They come back pale and shivering from an unknown chill.
They came back without doubting the gruesome story of the kill.

Old McGrew had killed his wife, or rather his wife had killed him.
He was a bright fellow and always paraded her to the brim.
They had prospered of one another until came old gray grim.
Until then it was that old McGrew's bright light grew dim.

Some say that she groans for not being alive and at his side,
and the only thing that separated them was the fact that she died.
Others see that old McGrew only comes on Hollow's Eve so his-
visitors can be denied
So that he can be alone with his long ago dead bride.

However, he appears every Hollow's Eve,
with a slight smile to his lips and a rose in his hand and a note in his sleeve,
There is also a box in the other, opened just as he takes his leave.
And on the lawn appears the hazy ghoul, in her eye a great reprieve.
And those that have stayed late to see the happening have seen their hands weave.

They have also seen them grieve.
For she walks away and takes her own leave.
And old McGrew is left there alone to disbelieve
with a face full of pain, he is left to aggrieve.

And this is a tale of Old Hallow's Eve. And please, beware that hill,
it is the place that had once beheld a gruesome and terrifying kill...

Author notes

This was sad, but fun to start with. And no, this isn't a true story ('tis why I've added in that this is part of the "Fantasy" category. ).

Hopefully you like it, because I'm not at my worst! ^_^

Happy Halloween, by the way.
