End of Term Report (nearly)

Gordon Brown has let us down
Borrowed money all round town
Stupidest clever man you've ever seen,
Least prudent prudent man there's ever been:
Ask any question, from start to end,
He's just one answer: “Tax, Borrow, Spend.”

Author notes

The problem is, the rest are probably worse

In a list

Would you lend money to this man?

I have lent money to this man

and all the other men who don't pay taxes. But I don't care. I guess we all have to lend to the men who can't pay taxes. That's the basis of socialism. How do you feel about USA's latest big news then? I know, I'm just too stupid and you are going to give me a big lecture. The problem with politics is the politicians. I just quite like Gordon Brown. He's just not flash at all. I think, on the whole, I disagree a bit with the sentiment of this.

      Mixed feelings

I have to say that I have mixed feelings about this poem myself. I had great expectations of Gordon Brown for all the reasons that you mention. That makes it more disappointing to find that he has not imposed the discipline that he talked about and that we are up a creek and paddleless...

(I almost didn't post this because of the ammunition it might give to the critics but in the end I thought it would be less than honest to suppress it.)

Bad tempered with all cheap chat suits

Your author note said it all. The rest are obviously worse. The problem with politics is the bastard politicians. Why would you want to spend your life saying nothing of any effing truth on the Today Programme? Cameron and Osborne scare me with their slick gainsaying. And I don't even know what Clegg looks like; think I'll vote for him then. Bring on the debate with your intellectual take on Toryism. Happy Christmas - just getting that in quick cos almost never get on here from the point of view of the total ennui xx still love ya you old git!! xx

how's jeff?? Been away for ages doing mummy things for my kids and now overlapping daughter stuff (not keen on the daughter stuff - mum didn't ever do much for me except let me out in the first place. Dad and Nana were my best people). Mum is now living up the road having thrown her hat into my ring. Duty, and it is duty, is calling a lot lately. Want to unplug the phone but know I mustn't. Hope you doing good as kids say! x cheers pal
