Still There?

I hate you for making me
reduce all my passion
to metaphors and self(ish)-expression,
for denying me happiness
and a chance at redemption;

for taking my offering
and casting it down,
I hate you-
for giving me hope
and letting it fade,
I hate you;

for granting me peace
from the torrent inside
and delivering me
from an undesirable fate,
for letting me glimpse
and just barely grasp
a life of fulfillment
in every way,

and snatching it back.

I love you.

Author notes

Yes, I know how cliche the last line is. But it fits, so whatever.

    Clichés are only so because ,ost of the time they are true. Yet oversaid.

    So if it fits, cliché or not, it shouldn't make a difference. Sometimes that's what people want!
    I mean, who doesn't love a happy ending!

    Anyway, I really liked this...I hate you I love you.
    Conflicting opinion.. love it.
