I know that you are hurting;
Burning deep within your heart,
It's the pain of life,
and daily strife,
That's tearing you apart.
I know too, that you are crying,
For someone you recently lost,
But there's only so much you can give;
you need to live,
Before your eyes open to see the cost.
I know also, you don't understand,
The decisions that others make,
Just try to keep your eye on the prize,
Don't concentrate so much on the 'whys',
Because life is waiting for you to partake.
I know that it's hard to hear,
When you just want to curl up and cry,
But sometimes, the truth is the best,
Though it's harder than the rest,
I'm just trying to raise your eyes to the sky.
Love and laughter will not be noticed,
Smattered in the dirt upon the ground,
But where the sun's golden rays shine,
Is your mountain to climb,
To come out the other side on higher ground.
