Thick summer nights
long gone
with colours that wither
away in the fall
Naked branches sway
to and fro
like an unfinished masterpiece
etched in soft strokes
Skies of ember reveal
sunsets warm hue
affecting the very
depths of your soul
Reflections of solitary
days gone by
winds shifting nature's
aria as waltzing clouds
drift awry
Seasons final descent shed
in endless new growth
weaves an unknown trail
along it's distant
windswept journey
Author notes

Indeed, Autumn is a masterful painter with an unlimited palette, it seems. A lovely penning, Poet. Good luck in the contest.

beautiful metaphor using autumn as the ... well as the metaphor
Lovely imagery too throughout the entire write. I'd love to live where the seasons change. We go from hot to cold but not much color. From green and alive to bare and dead ... thank you for entering
