Forgotten

Dawn blushes from the  kiss of night,
and sheds her pink and golden gown
as frowning moon casts her eyes
on such  display of brazen gold.

Then Aurora melts into the sun
now stretched upon horizon's bed,

forgetting that brief kiss of dark,

and the night retreats in mourning shrouds.

Lovely rhythm in this beauty. No rhyme needed to make this delight sing.

LOVED 'forgetting that brief kiss of dark'

Enough to make me blush with the sheer beauty of the thought. I do like the reference as well to mourning shrouds. It depicts loss of light, of day, of something wonderful as is opposite to morning. Very clever.

So much emotion expressed in the last brief love affair of day, lain prone upon horizon before she slips into the night.

Thank you for this gem. ~Pamela

    "now streached upon horizon's bed"

Just a teeny typo, should be "stretched." No worries, plenty of time to update. I will be back. ~Pamela

Adore the personafication of a morning's sunrise. If you listen closely to your verse, one can hear morning's demure Miss yawn and streach in vibrant hues.

This is very nicely handled, with a "classical" feel to it. Very enjoyable piece of poetry.
