Don’t take me for an idiot
I know what you said
The sirens that lured me down this way
Are ringing in my head
Must you be so eloquent?
I don’t care
If we came from the same earth
Yet we’ve never met since
The moment of our birth
I don’t need to know what you think
You already said it with your wink
And I don’t know what to say
Will you lure me down that way?
Lower these walls
The curtain fall
Pull me aside for the soliloquy
I don’t care
If we came from the same earth
Yet we’ve never met since
The moment of our birth
I don’t need to know what you think
You already said it with your wink
Don’t you think
I don’t know
Which evil’s the lesser of the two?
I guess it matters to you
What I put in here
But you’ll never, never know
The power of this tear
That fell from the sky
Above our Mother Earth
She’s been watching over us
Since the minute of our birth
I don’t need to know how to make me sink
You already said it with your wink
Must I be so defensive?
What do you think?
Author notes
This is a slightly unorthodox take on a simple romantic gesture... the shadow side of love, really. Hope you enjoy.
