Smoke wafting from the chimney ,
BBQ pit stoked up for the big meal .
Got us a brisquit slow cooking
with all is smells ,
and best leave the cook alone
he don't need no help.
He prepared that there brisquit
with tender love and care,
got himself a seasoned tenderized brisquit
and he does his spices with a flare .
Cut the top of the bag then poured out
half the juice and then,
when no one is looking
he puts his own ingredients in .
A prepared mixture so delightful indeed,
but he like to keep it a secret with glee.
In a pot he puts in two sticks of butter
and and 1 onion and two cloves garlick cut up fine,
two tablespoons mustard and a dash
of salt some lemon juice not lime .
1 large bottle zesty italian dressing
and a can of pearl beer a
nd lets it marienate for an hour or two,
wrap in foil and take out to the pit
but that's not all you do ,
You take it out of the foil
and sier it on both sides,
then return it to the foil
and wrap it up tight.
Guard it with your life to keep
anyone from opening the pit ,
cause to a Texan
you just never ever do this .
Meanwhile you put on a pot of beans
so scrumptious it seems,
with pork bacon and potatoes onions
chillie powder and garlic and beans.
Cook high for a couple hours
then add 2 tablespoons mollasses yum ,
and now let them cook
just leave them alone hun.
We got fruit salad colorful
and slap your granny good ,
with cherries and peaches apples
and nuts and whipped cream shoog .
Bake yourself a pumpkin pie
well better make two or you will get nighe,
Back up some cornbread
with some picante mixed in.
and you got a happy Texan
with that huge Texan grin.
Hey I want to give you a little secret
don't forget to kiss the cooks ,
for believe you me its a Texan way
don't just stand there with a redneck look.
For Mamas and Dads are truly special
and they're doing all this for you,
so wrap your arms around them
and whisper I love youI do.
Author notes
The smile she will give to you and the tear in her eyes will boost her energy like the eveready bunny on tv you will see her step lighten indeed

My dad is the one that cooks up that magic brisquit back home. This poem sent me on a magic trip down memory lane. All I have to do is close my eyes and it's like I'm there again.
