Standing there alone in a field of roses,
Surrounded by their sensual fragrances,
When a hand makes its home on my shoulder,
I turn to look,
And there you stand,
You look deep into my eyes,
As if they've cast a spell upon you,
Then,
You grab my hand,
And get down on one knee,
You pull a little black box out of your pocket,
And say,
"You are the light of my skies,
You are the stars of my nights,
Without you I am nothing,
I love you,
Will you marry me?"
Tears filled my eyes and I said yes,
And there in that field of sensual roses,
We found our bodies entwined,
Much like the roses,
Adoring our beloved in a moment of closeness,
And tenderness.

Ah..I can become a part of the story you narrated to witness the depth and beauty of the hearts of the lovers shown in the verse here..well done..

Wonderful
"When a hand makes its home on my shoulder,"
Warm. Sets the stage well.
"And say,
"You are the light of my skies,
You are the stars of my nights,
Without you I am nothing,
I love you,
Will you marry me?"
Reminds me of my husbands first proposal to me 38 years ago. Lovely lines to play central within
your beautifully scented bed of roses.
Nicely done.
Good luck to you,
~Mary O

"You are the light of my skies,
You are the stars of my nights" -
'our light and our stars' ... never separate from us... wonderful!
and the best to you also.

this lovely write is filled with thick colors and fragrances, yet, these are not mentioned, a symptom of poetry and skill. Even the roses adore you here. This is a charming, beautiful poem without any pretenses whatsoever. It doesn't need them. Your flair and ease of flow captured me.
