River of Hope

Billows hover in shadowy hues
motioning heart to explore
as every curve of circumstance
carries precious power
of existence

riding down an altering river,
cutting corners out of dreams,
edged from spells of storms;
essence emerges,
soaring strength to take flight
in feathers worn, yet fulsome
with tender tears reminiscing
in aging aches of rhythm

forecast begins to beckon
a shining reflection,
revealing a continual
continuity of natures forces;
grateful for every
breathtaking sunrise
that bestows a sigh~

    I wish to return the favor of reading your poetry. This seems well crafted in every sense. I am not quite this good at writing yet but some where in the future I hope to excell to a higher level as your words are well written and have a deeper meaning. OutofMind

    beautiful

    I think always of the river that runs through it, in awesome beauty and attraction. Silent, majestic, awe inspiring to get our attention, of how small we are.

    Outstanding

    I loved all the alliteration in the second stanza -really beautiful. You have caught something in these lines that is more than just a description of the Grand Canyon but something that captures its very essence and how as human beings we react to it:
    grateful for every
    breathtaking sunrise
    that bestows a sigh~
    There is something in its shear size that dominates the landscape and dominates us as people as well. Nature is breathtaking when she is so beautiful. Best of luck in the contest.

    indeed when we reflect on our innermost thoughts and our place in the world each day the sun rises brings a sigh that we have been bestowed the opportunity to remain part of this world.
